Camera Groups

Note: This guide assumes the reader has knowledge of how the Grouping function works within MyGeotab. For further information of Geotab Groups please reference this document.

Cameras associated with a MyGeotab database, once paired to a GO device, will then mirror that GO device's Group settings. By setting the GO device Groups, one can then control access to what users view cameras by setting up the user's Security Groups accordingly as well as making it easier to find and consolidate cameras within the add-in. Cameras that are not paired to a GO device automatically associate themselves with the root Company group within Geotab.

Group Filters

Located at the top of the Camera Status, Camera Events, Live Video, and Data Usage pages is the Groups filter option.

After selecting the Groups filter button, a drop-down menu will appear that contains the Groups visible to the current user. These can then be selected and de-selected to filter what cameras appear in view.

Initially, all of the Groups are displayed and will be a dark-blue color in the list. Groups that are de-selected will appear as a light-blue color. When a Group is selected or de-selected, all child groups are selected or de-selected along with it.

The group Long-Haul Trucks is the parent of the groups Single Trailer and Dual Trailer, therefore when de-selecting Long-Haul Trucks, Single Trailer and Dual Trailer groups are de-selected along with it.

As opposed to the last example, Single Trailer is a child of Long-Haul Trucks and a sibling of Dual Trailer, therefore when Single Trailer is selected, the other two are unaffected.
